RIOTT for change founders Milagros Russell and Kiva Elliott are environment shifters, change makers, and soul rockers. “Riotting” or taking a positive stand for inclusivity in the corporate space yields extensive extrinsic and intrinsic benefits that drive their passion and commitment to this work. Both with more than 25 years of experience in diverse industries, their ability to create sustainable organizational change make them credible partners in the area of corporate inclusion. They are optimistic, that one day, our world will no longer have to ponder the same questions over and over, year after year.
Inclusivity is a core value in the fabric of Milagros’ DNA. As an “Army Brat,” she spent most of her childhood moving between the United States and Europe. Early on, she learned and adapted to new cultures and sharpened her skill of connecting with people of diverse backgrounds to overcome feeling like an outsider. Her life’s journey has been learning, personal development, and transitioning from assimilation to authenticity.
Milagros has more than 24 years of experience in Organizational, Leadership, and Employee Development. Her career has a diverse flavor; with experiences in the following industries: higher education, retail management, global textiles, financial services, and healthcare. Milagros is an avid strategist, innovator, people seer, and healer. She is passionate about helping individuals and organizations win, according to their definition.
Milagros is a wife and mother of two beautiful daughters. She and her husband own a barber shop and beauty salon in their hometown. Milagros enjoys family time, world travel, reading, people watching, and hearing every person’s unique story.
Throughout the majority of Kiva’s professional career, she wore a “mask” hiding her true self and her many talents because she wanted to fit in and make others comfortable. It was exhausting for her! Once she started to remove the mask, Kiva became more confident, creative and had so much more to give and share with the world around her. In her experience, it hasn’t been lost on that she was not the only one wearing a mask. Her imagination quickly turned to how much potential is untapped, productivity loss and innovation stifled in organizations today because of cultures that do not value and embrace diversity and inclusion and work hard to eliminate inequities. She is driven by the possibility of doing and being better.
Kiva has spent the last 25 years working in the Financial Services, HR Consulting and Health Care Industries helping organizations create cultures of belonging and equity, lead through change and transition and challenge the norms. She leads with authenticity, compassion, curiosity & action.
Kiva is a known connector of people, relationship builder, strategist & warrior for the underdog. She is a Boy Mom and a wife that enjoys spending time with family, sports, hanging with the locals when traveling, long naps and girl’s night out.
